Meet The Team
Marilyn F. Engelman, Ph.D., CEP
Dr. Engelman has been a professional special educator since 1971, with public school and university faculty appointments. She has done research concerning college students with learning disabilities and attention deficits, administered a university LD support program, and has taught at the university level in all main aspects of special education and assessment.
She provides teacher training and in-service consultation and her private practice specializes in psycho-educational, neuropsychological assessments, college options advising, therapeutic options, and private school options. She has advised 1000’s of students of all abilities, helping them with college, school, and special residential programs. She has been a special educator and reading teacher.
Dr. Engelman has taught assessment and special education courses at Clark University, Boston College, Simmons College, Tufts University and Regis College. She is a professional member IECA, and is a Certified Educational Planner, an affiliate member of the National Association of Therapeutic Schools and Programs (NATSAP), and is a member of: the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC); the International Dyslexia Association (IDA); the Learning Disabilities World Wide Association (LDWWA); the Council for Learning Disabilities (CLD); and Children and Adults with Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (CHADD).
She co-chaired three of the New England Joint Conferences on Specific Learning Disabilities, and in 2013 was recognized by IECA for her commitment to and dedication in helping families through the receipt of the Irvin W. Katz Award.
Dr. Engelman also serves on the Board of Saving Teens In Crisis Collaborative (STICC), a non-profit dedicated to assisting families with teens in need of help. She has also spoken at numerous local, regional, and national conferences.
Peter Antalek
Peter has worked at Educational Directions since 2009, and he has over ten years of experience working with children who have special learning needs. Before joining the team at Educational Directions, Peter worked with adjudicated youth as a counsellor and teacher. Peter has a Bachelor degree in Psychology and a Master of Education in Psychology.
